A modest house built in 1900 and added onto in the late 1920’s near Wollaston Beach was in need of a serious makeover after years of neglect. Upon entering the house the small front hall was closed off and dark with the rest of first floor divided into small compartmentalized rooms. A new plan was conceived that opened up the front hall to the entire floor, creating a full circuit. The existing kitchen and dining were flipped and large openings were framed connecting the spaces from one end of the house to the other. A new large three panel sliding door opens up the house to the east and floods the space with morning light and connects the interior to the paved grilling terrace, kitchen garden and perennial garden beyond.

Macy, the cat, can often be found curled up on the table flooded with the morning light.
